he Tiruchirappalli Corporation’s IBT link road project, connecting the Panjapur Integrated Bus Terminus to major highways, faces an 18-month delay, pushing its completion timeline to early 2028. While initial projections targeted partial completion by late 2026, ongoing bottlenecks have halted momentum.
Progress varies sharply across its three phases. Phase I (Panjapur–Karumandapam) stands at 35% completion but is waiting on Southern Railway approval for a crucial Road over Bridge (RoB) at E Pudur MGR Nagar. Phase II (Woraiyur–Kudamurutti) is only 15% complete due to land acquisition delays. Meanwhile, the critical Phase III—the most complex stretch featuring five elevated structures—still awaits administrative sanction.
Though authorities successfully optimized the project design to reduce land requirements from eight acres to one, disputes linger; only half of the affected landowners have accepted the current compensation package. District Collector Pratik Tayal recently inspected the riverbank sites to accelerate progress, as civic trusts urge the state government to fast-track funding to alleviate Trichy's severe traffic congestion.
